Our club was officially opened on the 7th May 1932, so we were 90 years young in 2022.
The ground is owned by St Peter's Church. We lease the green and pay an agreed sum each year.
We have about 40 members and these members maintain the green and surrounding areas. We don't have a paid green keeper so we are dependant upon members, to do their bit in working parties, to look after the green with regular mowings and to keep the gardens, club house and fencing neat and tidy.
The club's business is managed by a committee comprising the usual offices and representatives from the gentlemen and ladies' members groups. The committee is elected every year at the AGM in March.
We play social bowls and friendly matches against other local teams. Selection for match teams is organised so that all who wish have the opportunity to take part. We like to be good at what we do but we think it’s the enjoyment of the game and the pleasure of being with like-minded people that’s important.
We have tuition for beginners at the beginning of the season.
